Adaptive fuzzy systems in group technology

Due to vague boundaries of the attributes of the parts, the grouping relations between parts and machines are frequently vague or fuzzy. The fuzzy concept was developed to handle this kind of linguistic vagueness. In this paper, an adaptive fuzzy system is used to investigate the machine-part grouping problem. To illustrate the advantages of the approach, numerical examples are solved and the various parameters are compared.
