The paradigm shift in Statistical Process Control due to the latest developments in computer technology

Statistical Process Control (SPC) is a category of techniques that has been fairly static throughout the years. Although the techniques and theories remain unchanged, the implementation and the characteristics of SPC are changing due to the rapid developments in the software and hardware industry. In this paper, computer applications in SPC are first introduced and some considerations in choosing an SPC package are presented. Subsequently, some paradigm shifts in SPC training and implementation due to the developments in computer technology will be investigated.
