Abstract
This paperaddressestheproductionschedulingprobleminamulti-pageinvoiceprintingsystem.The
system comprisesthreestages:thestencilpreparationstage,thepageprintingstageandtheinvoice
assemblystage.Sinceeachpagecanbeconsideredasacomponentandtheinvoiceasthefinished
product,theproductionsystemformulti-pageinvoicescanbetreatedasanassembly-typeflowshop
with parallelmachinesatthelasttwostages.Moreover,twotypesofsequence-dependentsetup
operationsareconsideredatthesecondstage.Theobjectiveistominimizethemakespanforallthe
invoice orders.Wefirstformulatethisproblemintoamixed-integerlinearprogramming(MILP).Thena
hybrid geneticalgorithm(HGA)isproposedforsolvingitduetoitsNP-hardness.Toevaluatethe
performanceoftheHGAheuristic,alowerboundforthemakespanisdeveloped.Numericalexperiment
indicatesthatouralgorithmcansolvetheproblemefficientlyandeffectively.
