  • Abstract
    In thispaperwestudytwoformulationreductionsforthequadraticassignmentproblem(QAP).In particularweapplythesereductionstothewellknownAdamsandJohnson [2] integer linear programmingformulationoftheQAP.Weanalyzetwocases:Inthefirstcase,westudytheeffectof constraintreduction. In thesecondcase,westudytheeffectof variablereduction in thecaseofasparse cost matrix.Computationalexperimentswithasetof30QAPLIBinstances,whichrangefrom12to32 locations,arepresented.Theproposedreductionsturnedouttobeveryeffective.
