Abstract
In thispaper,weconsideranassemble-to-orderproductionsysteminwhichaproductwithmultiple
componentsisproducedunderabase-stockpolicy.ThedemandfollowsaPoissonarrivalprocess,and
the productiontimeateachfacilityisexponentiallydistributed.
Our mainresultsareclosed-formformulaeforapproximatingthelead-timedistributionsin
equilibrium.Theapproximationformulaeforthelead-timedistributionscanbeobtainedwithalinear
combinationofbounds,inwhichcertainconstantsareobtainedfromauxiliarypropertiesand
simulationexperiments.Todeterminethequalityoftheapproximations,weobtainedsamplelead-time
distributionsfrommanysimulations.Kolmogorov–Smirnovtestsshowthatourformulaeareverygood
fits ofthesampledistributions.Theapproximationsaregoodovertheentirerangeoftrafficintensities
and areevenmoreaccurateinlightorheavytraffic.
