Abstract
Modelsforlocatingfacilitiesandserviceproviderstoserveasetofdemandpointsareproposed.The
numberoffacilitiesisunknown,however,thereisagivennumberofserverstobedistributedamong
the facilities.EachfacilityactsasanM/M/kqueuingsystem.Theobjectivefunctionistheminimization
of thecombinedtraveltimeandthewaitingtimeatthefacilityforallcustomers.Thedistributionof
demandamongthefacilitiesisgovernedbythegravityrule.Twomodelsareproposed:astationaryone
and aninteractiveone.Inthestationarymodelitisassumedthatcustomersdonotconsiderthewaiting
time atthefacilityintheirfacilityselectiondecision.Intheinteractivemodelweassumethat
customersknowtheexpectedwaitingtimeatthefacilityandconsideritintheirfacilityselection
decision.Theinteractivemodelismorecomplicatedbecausetheallocationofthedemandamongthe
facilitiesdependsonthedemanditself.Themodelsareanalyzedandthreeheuristicsolutionalgorithms
are proposed.Thealgorithmsweretestedonasetofproblemswithupto1000demandpointsand20
servers.
