Abstract
A curvilinear method is proposed to solve an unconstrained nonlinear optimization
problem. Based on the Botsaris]Newton method a new parametrization of the
curve of steepest descent and a new stepsize control is evaluated. The convergence
of the resulting algorithm is proved and numerical results are given.
