Finite Gratings at High Frequencies

In this paper we construct geometric-optics solutions to an acoustic scattering problem by a finite periodic dielectric grating placed on the interface between semi-infinite dielectric media. We rigorously justify that the first order approximation is the solution of the infinite periodic grating. The method is extended to Maxwell’s equations.
