Explicit Calculation of the Solution to Backus′ Problem with a Condition for Uniqueness

In this work a uniqueness result for Backus′ problem for the exterior magnetic or gravitational field of the earth is given. Once this condition is established, an explicit series solution for the magnetic problem is computed and the convergance proved.
