Abstract
Meshgenerationinsupportofnuclearreactorsimulationhasmuchincommonwiththerequirementsofotherapplicationareas,suchascomputationalfluiddynamics(CFD).Indeed,fluiddynamicsanalysisofthecoolantbehaviorinsidethereactorcoreisaninternalflowproblemthatrequirestheresolutionofspatialandtemporalvariationsintheflowcausedbycomplexcomponentconfigurations,fluids/structureinteraction,turbulence,andthermalheatingofthecoolant.Typicalconcernsofmeshingcomplexgeometries;theuseofhexahedralvs.tetrahedralelements,elementgeometricquality,meshsmoothness,useofanisotropicelementsinthethermalboundarylayer,etc.,areallconsiderationsimportanttothereactormeshingproblem.
