Minimization of certain cost functions with error bounds

Suppose that a cost function can be represented by a generalized polynomial in its design parameters with positive coefficients. The parameters are positive quantities raised to positive or negative powers in the generalized polynomial. We show that a result of Duffin allows error bounds when using Newtonʹs method to find the minimum cost.
