Abstract
Direct asymmetric aldol reaction of acetone with aromatic aldehydes was achieved in good yields and high enantioselectivity using 5-amino-5-deoxy-β-l-ido-(α-d-gluco)-heptofuranuronic acids as a new class of organocatalysts.
