Abstract: During the per iod from Augu st 1997 to March 1998, two thou sand samples of cultured Penaeus semisulcatus post larv ae and sub adults wer e co llected from five hatcheries and 20 growo ut farm s distributed in three pro vin ces a lo ng the co s ts of Persian Gul f and the Oman Sea. Based on g rowt h sig ns, LM and TEM histopathology , Hepatop ancreatic Parvo-like Virus (HPV) wer e identifi ed from the samples. Th e HPV parti cles most ofte n appeared in s phe rical, but occa sio na lly in ang ular forms . The pa rticles in hepatop ancreatocyt e sections, ave raged 22- 24nm in diameter.
