STUDYING THE EFFECT OF SUBSTRATES ON THE EXCITATION OF SPIN WAVE MODES IN NiTHIN FILMS

The effect of substrates material on S.W.R. in single and polycrystalline nickel thin films has been investigated. Our observation was the excitation of body and surface modes in such films , and complex in addition to the body modes. The room temperature spin wave spectra in ( 100 ) Ni thin films are discussed in term of a surface and volume inhomogenity model , with particular reference to possible surface pinning mechanisms for films deposited on different substrate materials.
