A Modified Block Truncation Coding Algorithm for Image Data Compression

In this paper an adaptation was used to improve the block truncation coding (BTC) method, by using the vector quantization (VQ) method to represent the binary form of the coded image proposed from the first method (BTC). This paper contains generating codebook depended on randomly chosen to the codevector from the set of binary image vectors. Good results have been obtained, using (House) image, with acceptable rates of compression between 3-16 times.
