A study of seasonal occurrence of bovine mastitis and microbial sensitivities to antibiotic under environmental factors for Iraqi south

The present study is curried out to investigate the bovine mastitis during the period from July 2009 to june 2010 in animal production department , shatra technical institute at south of Iraq .The result showed that the incidence rate was (146) case infected with mastitis , the incidence of subclinical and clinical mastitis was (22.07%) 34 , (72.72%) 112 respectively , during study period the results that also the incidence rate was the highest in summer (52.4%) 76 with significant difference (p 0.05), while in winter was (38.28%)34 with little significant difference as compared with spring and fall (17.80%)26 , (6.84%)10 respectively. The pathogens were isolated staphylococcus aurous (42.45%)62 streptococcus spp. (27.39%)40 , salmonella spp (4.49%)7 , klebsiella spp (4.79%)7 , Escherichia coli (17.12%) 25 and (3.42%) 5 for mixed infection. Antibiotic sensitivity test showed that staph.aureus and strep. Spp were more sensitive to Kanamycin, Amikacin, Tobramycin and and moderate sensitive to Rifampicin antibiotics Sal. spp , kleb spp and e coli spp were high sensitive to kanamycin, Amikasin, and Tobramycin and moderate sensitive to Ciprofloxacin antibiotics.
