A Comparative Study of Accumulation of Cadmium and Lead in the Tapeworm Postgangesia inarmata (De Chambrier; Alkallak and Mariaux, 2003) and some Tissues of the Catfish Silurus glanis in the Governorate of Nineveh, North Iraq

The present study included estimation of the accumulated concentrationof cadmium and lead by using atomic absorption spectrometer, in the tissues ofthe cestode Postgangesia inarmata De Chambrier, AlKallak and Mariaux, 2003and some organs of its final host, the catfish Silurus glanis, such as liver,kidneys, intestine, gills and muscles. The fishes were collected from Mosul damin Ninevah governorate. The results showed a significant difference (0.05) inthe accumulation concentration of cadmium and lead in the liver, kidneys,intestine, gills and muscles of the infected and uninfected fishes. Theaccumulation concentration of cadmium and lead in the cestode was 24.24 and787.87 μg/g, respectively
