Investigation of fluid and particle dynamics in a two dimensional spouted bed and effect of draft plates

The spouted bed has been used in drying, granulation, catalytic polymerization, residue treatmentand coating of several materials. Its success is attributed to its solids circulation characteristics and excellentgas-particle contact. The simulated velocity wascompared with results obtained in a laboratory. In the spout region, the particle vertical velocities are found to decrease as the height increases. The effect of taking the draft plates on the spouting phenomenon is investigated.
