Creating Knowledge City via Relationship Knowledge Management and Balanced Scorecard

The fast growing of the city society requires actions that permit an economically and environmentally sustainable urban growth and which ensure the quality of life of the inhabitants. This is the main challenge and the reason why today’s cities must become Knowledge cities. This paper reviews the state-of-art of Knowledge Management (KM) and Balance Scorecard (BSC) methods and discusses the relationship between them. Thereafter, a conceptual model is presented for the implementation of KM in cities. The use of KM to strengthen BSC increases the ability of many organizations that are undertaking or plan to undertake such efforts to improve performance, and achieve a competitive advantage.
