Experimental Study of Repeated Loading on Elastomeric Foam Cores

Abstract- Analytical and numerical study of the repeated local loading at specified time periods on elastomeric foam cores requires the foam stress-strain curves and the strain-hardening at the different times after initial impact. In this article, the behavior of elastomeric foams under quasi-static repeated local loading, applied by semi-spherical indenter, is investigated. Repeated loading can be applied immediately or at the specified time periods. In order to determine the contribution of elastomeric foam reversibility, strain-hardening and dent effect on the repeated loading, the quasi-static global loadings are performed on the core. Comparison between the local and global loadings results the effects of indenter geometry. The strain hardening can be obtained from the results of second global loading that applied immediately after the first loading. On the other hand, comparison of immediately repeated loadings with loadings at specified time periods determines the effect of elastomeric foam. Keywords ,, , .
