MODERNISM AND BIOETHICS IN ISLAM

Recent breakthroughs in molecular biology and genetic engineering warranted examine the ethical, legal and social implication (ELSI) of this research. Biotechnology raised ethical issues which humanity has never had to face before. Islam is the second largesd religion of the planet with more than 1 billuin followers , which constitute 26% of total population, means that every fourth human is Muslim. At the very outset one also needs to expliciylt state that for Muslims the two major sources of guidance are the Holy Qura’ an which is a holy book revealed by the God on the Holy prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and sunnah which represents the saying thses above two source that all ethical dilemmas have to be examined.
