INSTRUMENTATION OF GAVOOSHAN DAM

Instrumentation of dams is vital to the performance of these structures during their construction and operation. Well instrumented Gavooshan dam in NW of Iran with inclinometers, electrical vibrating wire piezometers, and total earth pressure cells is under construction and near completion. The results of instrumentation program is presented. The performance of the dam during the construction in terms of settlements, pore water pressures and earth pressures is evaluated. The dam is proved to be safe and satisfactory.
