Effect of different planting conditions and its impact on yield of essential oil and its constituent compounds in geranium and comparison with two imported samples

Pelargonium graveolens is a plant of the family Geraniaceae that is cultivated in warm climates with a lot of water. To implement of the project, plants were collected from four region include Kashan, Noshahr, Nour abad and Dezful. Essential oil obtained by steam distillation from fresh aerial parts of Pelargonium graveolens was analyzed by gas chromatography. Essential oils were consisted of geraniol, citronellol, linalool, terpinene, and alcohols. It observed that the yields of essential oils obtained from Noshahr, Nour abad and Dezful were not much different but there was a significant difference with geranium harvested from Kashan. Also, the amounts of citronellol in essential oils had a slight difference but amount of geraniol in essential oil related to Kashan region was significantly lower than other regions.
