Quasi-twisted (QT) codes are an important class of codes which have been extensively studied. In this paper, we present generalized QT (GQT) codes as a generalization of QT codes and the generator matrix of GQT codes will be investigated in general. GQT codes have some advantages rather than QT codes in flexibility of the parameters, such as lengths and minimum-distances. Finally, a new GQT code of length 81 is introduced with better weight distribution than a length-78 optimal QT code with the same dimension.
