The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of four methods of teaching idioms (Visualization, storytelling, game and lexical awareness) on the comprehension of L2 idioms. To this end, a sample of 80 female Iranian EFL learners at Guya institute in Qazvin were selected and divided into four groups, each group of participants was randomly assigned to one of the treatment conditions and received instruction through visualization, storytelling, game and lexical awareness techniques. The participants were given a 60- item Oxford placement Test and an idioms comprehension pretest before the treatment, and a 30-item idioms comprehension posttest in multiple-choice format at the end of treatment period. The collected data were analyzed using the one way ANOVA procedure. The result of the study showed no statistically significant differences among the effect of the four techniques on L2 idiom comprehension. The findings of the present study may have implications for second language learners, teachers, and materials developers.
