Male Wistar rats were administered 5 mg kg−1 cadmium cholorid, intraperitoneally, once daily for 7 days. Exposure to cadmium caused a significant decrease in blood peroxidase (GPx) and decreased superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and an increase in thiobarbituric acid reactive substances. Th ese biochemical changes were correlated with an increased uptake of cadmium concentration in blood.
