Recyclable CuO nanoparticles(NP-CuO) in average size between 30-100 nanometers were prepared. Synthesis of aromatic 2-thiazolines and 2-imidazolines using NP-CuO from the reaction of aromatic aldehydes and 2-aminoethanethiol or ethylenediamine under solvent-free are reported. Easy handling, reusability, thermal stability and non-toxicity of the catalyst make the present protocol as an eco-friendly and economically acceptable method for synthesis of these heterocycles.
