Investigation of the Applicability of SiO2@α-Fe2O3 for Producing Red glass

The SiO2@α-Fe2O3 pigment was prepared using a facile sol–gel process. It was characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and diffuse reflection spectroscopy. The SiO2@α-Fe2O3 pigment was used to prepare red glaze. Coating on the soda lime glass was sintered at 650 °C for 1 h and the obtained sample presented good color properties (L* = 20.22, a* = 26.87, b* = 32.88).
