A new closed-loop location-inventory problem is addressed to optimize the location of the distribution and reworking centers (DCs and RCs) and the allocation of retailers and facilities considering inventory management that are called strategic and tactical decisions, respectively. The main difference of this study is the capability of returning the reworked products to the forward logistics that will eventually affect the ordering patterns of the DCs. This problem is formulated using a mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP). Additionally, the computational results and sensitivity analysis are presented to reveal the applicability of the presented model via a real case-study in Iran. Finally, the results are analyzed in depth to provide some managerial insights.
