    Li-ion batteries are widely used as one of the most advanced rechargeable batteries today. CuO as an important transition metal oxide, has been considered as a promising anode candidate for LIBs because of its high theoretical capacity (674 mAhg−1), good rate capability, good safety, non-toxicity, chemical stability and cost effectiveness [1-2]. 2D transition metal oxide nanosheets (e.g. SnO2, Fe2O3, etc.) possess many distinctive characteristics for electrochemical reactions, such as high surface area and shortened paths for fast lithium ion diffusion [2]. Herein, we introduce a facile procedure to synthesize 2D CuO nanosheets as an anode material of rechargeable LIBs.
