Polypyrrole nanotubes/multi-walled carbon nanotubes (PPyNTs/MWCNTs) composites have been successfully synthesized via in situ chemical oxidation polymerization with methyl orange (MO) as soft template [1]. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Energy Diffraction Spectroscopy (EDS) images revealed that MWCNTs imbedded with the PPyNTs and PPyNTs/MWCNTs composites formed in water–ethanol solution. PPy/SWCNT nanocomposite was studied to investigate synergistic effect of PPy and SWCNT as ammonia gas sensor. The investigations revealed that PPyNTs/MWCNTs composites have more sensitivity, selectivity than PPyNTs and MWCNTs.
