Chemical Modification of Carbon Fiber to Improve its Performance in Carbon Fiber/ Epoxy Composites

In the Present study, PAN-based carbon fibers were functionalized with two types of diamines, namely ethylendiamine and 4, 4′-diaminodiphenylsulphone (Dapsone), to improve the interfacial interactions between carbon fibers and epoxy matrix. The chemical compositions of the modified CFs were verified using fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR).
