The Effect of Structural Irregularity on Pole Assignment Active Control Method

Past earthquakes have shown that buildings with irregular configuration trigger an increase in seismic demand, causing greater damage. So control of irregular buildings to mitigate their dynamic response is of great importance. In this paper pole assignment method is used for control of an irregular ten story building with three levels of irregularity and the effect of irregularity on pole assignment control method is investigated. By increasing the amount of irregularity, some changes in modal mass participation ratio of fundamental modes can be seen, which causes the poles to have different effects on control process.
