In present study using a lab scale spray dryer absorber the reactive absorption of CO2 with NaOH
solution was experimentally examined. Response surface method was used for design of
experiments and process optimization and the influence of operating parameters including
temperature, absorbent concentration, CO2 inlet concentration, nozzle size and liquid to gas ratio
on the removal efficiency was investigated. The results of optimization show that to reach the
maximum removal efficiency the optimum values of the mentioned operating conditions including
inlet gas temperature, NaOH mass concentration, inlet CO2 volume concentration, nozzle diameter
and L/G ratio are 139.4 oC, 9.3%, 10%, 0.5 mm and 0.05 ml/L respectively.
