A New Method for Calculation of Perforation Skin

In this study first we define pseudo perforation skin factor which can represent flow resistance in the perforated region. Taking adavantage of flow resistance approach, a simple and accurate semianalytical method is introduced for calculation of perforation skin. The coefficients of the dimensionless numbers and correlation of this method are adjusted using a large bank covering a wide range of variation of geometrical parameters and anisotropy ratios. This data bank has been generated by the finite-element based simulator developed by Jamiolahmady et al. (2007). The results of our skin correlation are compared with those of Karakas-Tariq’s (1991) method. This comparison demonstrates that our method is more reliable for higly anisotropic reservoirs.
