    Silica aerogel and silica aerogel-carbon active nanocomposites were synthesized via waterglass precursor and ambient pressure drying method. A continous operation with reflux was performed for adsorption of aqueous solution of phenol. The adsorption capacity was measured for hydrophobic silica aerogel and different nanocomposites. The adsorption process was done in both visible light and in the absence of light. The results showed that visible light has a great effect on phenol photolysis. 0.5 and 2% wt nanocomposites were prepared. The results showed that adding a little amount of AC has a considerable effect on adsorption capacity.
