In this work Ni0.35Cu0.25Mg0.4Fe2O4 magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) was synthesized using tragacanth gum by the novel sol–gel method. The sample was characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The X-ray powder diffraction analysis revealed the formation of Cubic phase ferrite MNPs with average particle size of 19 nm. Then, application of this MNPs was investigated for the synthesis of dihydropyrimidinone derivatives via multi-component reactions under microwave irradiation. Mild reaction conditions, short reaction times, simple work-up, use of an economically convenient catalyst, and excellent product yields are the advantageous features of this method.
