    Sunitinib malate is a multitargeted tyrosine kinase inhibitor that inhibits tumor cell proliferation and angiogenesis. It is approved for the treatment of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and imatinib-resistant gastrointestinal stromal tumor [1-4]. In this study, the molar transition energy (ET) values for sunitinib malate were measured in aqueous binary mixtures of DMSO. Plot of ET as a function of mole fraction of the organic solvent was obtained and the data were analyzed to investigate preferential solvation of the drug in terms of both solute–solvent and solvent–solvent interactions [5].
