Multiphase Flow Meter: A review

One of the main challenges in the oil industry is how to continuously measure the velocity and different phase fractions (Gas volume fraction(GVF), liquid flow rate and water rate) in multiphase flow in pipeline. Considerable research and method has been conducted in the multiphase flow meter (MFM). The use of MFM has great potential economic impact on oil and gas fields. MFMs could provide continuous well test data, which would lead to more accurate production allocation and better reservoir management. This paper reviews different instruments and discusses multiphase flow meter strategies and principle technologies introduced until now.
