Consideration of construction rate and first impounding on the slope stability of embankment dams

In this research an earth dam which is under construction in Iran Gotvand) is intended to be studied. Using the available data read out from instruments installed in the dam body and its foundation series of back analysis are performed for the purpose of better estimation of dam and foundation material technical parameters these new material properties are used to model the process of dam construction completion during which the optimum rate of earth filling is searched. the optimum rate of earth filling should be chosen in such a way that the induced pore pressure in foundation and core doesn't endanger the stability of the dam.
