In this investigation, several experiments have been performed with a single stage horizontal mixer-settler. A video
technique has been used in order to measure the drop size in the mixer-settler by a digital camera. The experiments
carried out in various surfactant (Sodium Dodecyle Sulfate) concentrations, hold-ups and impeller speeds. For various
surfactant concentrations, have been proposed an empirical model for mean drop size. These correlations have a good
agreement with experimental data. Also the proposed correlations were compared with Desnoyer and Lee and Soong’s
models where little deviation from Desnoyer model was found.
