A new technology for water purification without the use of mixed bed or EDI

This paper will introduce a new water purification technology known as short bed ion exchange that can produce a conductivity of less than 0.1μS/cm without using a mixed bed column. The major benefits of this technology includes the use of compressively packed beds only 7.5 to 15cm in depth with countercurrent regeneration that produce high purity water with greater control over the regeneration process than its large conventional columns, less acid and caustic consumption, lower costs, fine mesh resins that improve exchange kinetics, and greater output. This technology can be used for the treatment of a surface water source with suitable quality and reverse osmosis permeate in order to produce high purity water for boiler feed make up. We hope that this excellent technology will be utilizable in our country.
