Biosurfactants are amphiphilic compounds which can reduce surface and interfacial tensions by accumulating at the
interface of immiscible fluids and increase the solubility, mobility, bioavailability and subsequent biodegradation of
hydrophobic or insoluble organic compounds. In this article, rhamnolipid biosurfactant is produced from Pseudomonas
aeroginosa. Then, effects of this biosurfactant are investigated on surface tensions of crude oil. Results show that
increasing the biosurfactant more than critical micelle concentration (CMC), doesn't change surface tension.
Emulsification Activity of biosurfactant is also determined in crude oil solutions. In rhamnolipid systems,
emulsification increases as the volume of crude oil is increased. These results are in agreement with literatures.
