Preparation and characterization of polyaniline colloids by using various steric stabilizers

In this investigation polyaniline colloid was prepared chemically by using various stabilizers such as hydroxypropylcellulose, poly(vinyl alcohol), poly(ethylene glycol) and sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate in aqueous media. Potassium iodate was used as an oxidant. The surface morphology of particle was determined by using scanning electron microscope. Chemical structure of products was obtained using fourier transform infrared spectrometer. Also, electrical conductivity of polymers was measured by using four point probe method. The results indicate that the type and concentration of stabilizer influence the morphology, particle size and electrical conductivity of resulting products.
