رودخانه به‌عنوان مهم‌ترين تأمين‌كننده آب شرب و مصرفي شهرها شناخته‌ مي‌شود و هم‌چنين زيستگاه آبزيان و جانداران مي‌باشد؛ اما متأسفانه با توسعه شهرنشيني و صنعتي‌شدن كشورها، ورود آلاينده‌هاي مختلف به آن يكي از چالش‌هاي جدي انسان در تقابل با محيط زيست مي‌باشد. گام اول براي مقابله با آلودگي‌هاي رودخانه، شناخت منابع آلاينده و سپس چگونگي رفتار آنها مي‌باشد. به‌همين دليل از شبيه‌سازي استفاده‌ مي‌كنيم. اكنون مدل‌سازي به‌عنوان يك ابزار كارآمد در تعيين و ارزيابي اثرات آلاينده‌هاي مختلف در مديريت پيكره‌هاي آبي تبديل شده ‌است. يكي از مطالب مهم در بررسي آلاينده‌هاي رودخانه‌ها، شناخت مدل‌هاي شبيه‌ساز مي‌باشد تا باتوجه به داده‌هاي مسأله بهترين گزينه را انتخاب كنيم. در اين مطالعه مروري بر مدل‌هاي مختلف شبيه‌سازي آب رودخانه شده ‌است و خصوصيات هر‌كدام از مدل‌ها مورد بررسي قرار گرفته است.

The first step to deal with river pollution is to know the sources of pollutants and then how they behave. That s why we use simulation. Now modeling has become an effective tool in determining and evaluating the effects of various pollutants in the management of water bodies. One of the important topics in the investigation of river pollutants is to know the simulation models in order to choose the best option according to the data of the problem. In this study, an overview of different models of river water simulation has been made and the researches conducted by researchers in this field have been reviewed.
