An Overview of Connected Vehicles, Challenges, and Future Horizons

Today, emerging technologies, especially connected vehicles, are conquering car markets around the world. As more and more automakers equip their vehicles with connected technology, digitization and consequently vehicle connectivity offer many opportunities to develop innovative and intelligent products and services, including options such as program-controlled breakdown assistance, theft or call protection. Causes an emergency in the event of an accident. The purpose of this article is to provide an overview of the features, issues and problems that the capabilities attached to vehicles provide in order to gain an accurate understanding of the existing hardware and software solutions and their main features. In this research, an attempt has been made to introduce key concepts such as Internet of Vehicle (IoV) as the application of the Internet of Things (IoT) with a qualitative approach and by analyzing the content of resources in this field. Additional topics such as Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) features, Vehicle-to-internet (V2I), and Vehicle-to-road (V2R) infrastructure have also been studied. This article also highlights the most important transportation problems and solutions following the Internet of Things, features and challenges in focusing on in-vehicle wireless sensor networks.
