A series of PVC/PLA samples were prepared in an internal mixer with various concentrations of PLA. Mechanical properties of the samples were investigated using tensile tests. According to the results, by adding 10% PLA to PVC, the tensile strength and fracture energy increased whereas the modulus did not change much, which is a very good result. In this sample, the mechanical properties are improved and PLA contributes to the biodegradability of the sample. With a further increase of PLA (20-30%), the mechanical properties are weakened possibly due to the improper distribution of PLA in the PVC matrix at higher PLA contents.
