Sublayer effect on the protective performance of black polyester resin

In this study, the sublayer effect on the protective performance of black polyester resin has been investigated. Various layer such as chromium, zinc and nickel were coated on stainless steel 316 substrate using electrodeposition method. Afterwards, a coating of polyester resin with black carbon pigment was sprayed by electrostatic method. In this investigation, corrosion performance was evaluated in 3.5 wt. % NaCl using EIS technique. Results showed that corrosion resistance of polyester coating on the stainless steel 316 surface was more than other samples. Moreover, in order to determine the approximate thickness of the films formed in some of the prepared samples, the morphology of surfaces as well as the cross-section image were studied and evaluated by SEM.
