Comparative study on TRFs of white specimens recovered spectrally and colorimetrically

In this paper the total radiance factors (TRFs) of some fluorescent whitening agents treated white fabrics are recovered in two different 3D subspaces. The principal component analysis technique is applied to extract the main characteristic vectors of TRF domain. The extracted vectors are weighted based on the least square method as well as the CIEXYZ tristimulus values of original data to recover the TRF space spectrally and colorimetrically. The outcomes show that the spectral reconstruction of TRF domain results in less spectral errors rather than its colorimetric reconstruction. Besides, recovered metameric pairs of FWAs treated white fabrics show less colorimetric errors. Moreover, the TRFs of FWAs treated whites could be satisfactorily described in a three dimensional subspace, spectrally and colorimetrically.
