Dyeing and fastness properties of wool dyed with thymus vulgaris L. natural dye

This study reports dyeing and fastness properties of wool yarns dyed with natural dye of well known medicinal plant, thymus vulgaris L., with the aid of different metallic mordants. Depending on the mordant used, different color shades such as yellow, cream, orangish yellow, greenish yellow, and brown with satisfactory (very good-to –excellent wash and good light) fastness properties were obtained. The results showed the potential of thymus vulgaris L. plant as new natural dye source for dyeing of wool.
